IDEX Health & Science Volunteers from Rochester and Lima came together to “build a backpack.” Through partnership with the Jewish Family Services: Pencils and Paper Program and a $29,000 donation from the IDEX Foundation, volunteers were able to gain the supplies needed fully outfit each bag. In total, 575 backpacks were filled with school supplies and will be outfitting every student at Roberto Clemento School #8 in Rochester.

The IDEX Foundation challenged businesses across IDEX to collect food and donate it to their local food pantries April through June. The IDEX Foundation donated $5,000 USD to each food bank selected by each IDEX business unit—culminating in a total of $30,000 in donations from IDEX Health & Science. 15,746lbs of food was collected by our employees, and each $5,000 donation equals 10,000 meals!

In Q1 of 2020, our IDEX Health & Science Oak Harbor, Washington site started a volunteer project with Summit Assistance Dogs. The first volunteer activity included assembling snuffle mats used for training service dogs. The kits were picked up and stored in the Oak Harbor facility break rooms to allow employees to volunteer during their lunch hour.

Khalil Aboushama is a Manufacturing Associate for our optical filters coating line. For years at our Buffalo Road Semrock facility, he maintained (on his own time and dime) raised garden beds outside of the building which provided fresh vegetables to our employees during the summer.
