Scientists and clinicians have long believed that visualizing structural changes in the nucleus of cancer cells would unlock vital clues about how the disease first forms. This information could provide the ability to track where and how cancer is progressing to plan its successful treatment. Traditional microscopy methods have fallen short in revealing these details because the microscope’s inherent resolution limit only allows the imaging of general structural changes, as opposed to resolving their point of origin.
