    Deep Learning Bolsters Laser-Driven Ion Acceleration Study

    Researchers at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) have applied neural networks to the study of high-intensity short-pulse laser-plasma acceleration, specifically for ion acceleration from solid targets. In most instances, neural networks are used to study data sets. In the current work, the LLNL team used them to explore sparsely sampled parameter space as a surrogate for a full simulation, or experiment.
