The IDEX Health & Science Rochester Site Coordinator created a proposal and secured funds of $23,800 from the IDEX Foundation to support Rochester Childfirst Network (RCN) in their efforts to build an outdoor classroom. This outdoor classroom will allow the RCN to continue to advance the quality of early education and care for youth in the Western New York area. An outdoor classroom requires quality lumber and a strong foundation to withstand the weather of Rochester, New York. New Energy Works donated the lumber and gathered their team to build the structure last week. Our donation went towards the foundation of the classroom including concrete, stone subbase and post foundations.

The strength of a building lies in its foundation. As a corporation that strives to create value and improve the communities in which we live and operate through, the IDEX Foundation is proud to contribute to the core foundation of this outdoor classroom.

Rochester Childfirst Network provides services for over 2,000 children from all socio-economic backgrounds in Rochester, New York. Their professional staff of experts help children to learn through a sense of play with a focused curriculum, allowing them to thrive in a nurturing setting with children of all abilities and cultures. The vision of RCN is to help every child grow up safe and strong, and be able to achieve his or her full potential. RCN advocates at local, state, and national levels for quality early education and care practices for all children.
