Oak Harbor, WA, March 1, 2012 — IDEX Health & Science removed all polymer components in the liquid end of the new TitanHT valve to achieve the higher pressures (up to 25 ksi, 1700 bar) needed with the smaller column particle sizes of UHPLC. Instrument manufacturers can see the complete array of valves, fittings, tubing, check valves, filters, and columns for UHPLC at Pittcon Booth 2729, March 11-15, 2012.

“Polymer seals leak at 25 ksi and higher coefficients of friction cause increased wear,” explained Michael Keller, IDEX Health & Science Applications Engineer. “The new design of the TitanHT for UHPLC introduces a completely re-engineered, metal-on-metal architecture in the wetted path of the valve head. In addition to the pressure capacity, this new valve design exhibits a lifetime up to three times longer than conventional valve heads. That’s fewer preventive maintenance calls, and lower overall cost of ownership.”
