Packing Partners for the Science Club for Girls

IDEX Health & Science’s fluidics team in Middleboro, MA and the Chromatography Commercial Team were Packing Partners for the Science Club for Girls. A packing event was held, and employees assembled 450 STEM supply kits. A $5,000 donation was also made through the IDEX Foundation. The IDEX Foundation is a charitable organization made up of customers, employees, and shareholders consistently striving to create value and improve the communities where their teams live and operate.

Packing Partners cover the cost of supplies and assemble STEM kits for every participant and mentor. The kits contain all the supplies needed for an 8-week science program. Every girl enrolled in the program will receive a kit and participate in free, hands-on, weekly Science Clubs, which will begin in October.

“Science Club for Girls is thrilled to partner with IDEX Health & Science to develop the next generation of diverse leaders in STEM. Together, we are building the pipeline of innovative scientists, technologists, and engineers who will solve the challenges of tomorrow—by providing free, hands-on opportunities and powerful role models for girls and gender-expansive youth who are most often left out of the equation,” said Bonnie, Ph.D., Executive Director.

Science Club for Girls fosters excitement, confidence, and literacy in STEM for girls, young women, and gender-expansive youth from underrepresented communities with free, experiential community-based programs. Women make up less than 26 percent of the STEM workforce—and Black and Latina women at less than four percent. The organization currently serves 500 girls each semester in Greater Boston with high-quality afterschool programming—that breaks down barriers, exposes girls to STEM early before negative stereotypes set in, and nurtures their interest and excitement in STEM while connecting them to a supportive community.

“Partnering with the Science Club for Girls has been a great experience. Extending STEM education to girls in underserved communities is an investment in the future thought leaders of our industry,” said Audrey Schrock, Lead Product Manager, Chromatography at IDEX Health & Science.
